Consumer Loan Processor

The Consumer Loan Processor is primarily responsible for processing a high volume of consumer loans, including home equity loans and lines of credit, while ensuring timely, accurate, courteous and confidential delivery of loan related services. A processor is an integral part of supporting a compliant lending process by meeting all regulatory requirements. Tasks include, but are not limited to, reviewing applications, funding loans, communicating with members and vendors, and managing reports with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

  • Audit loan applications for accuracy and completeness prior to sending documents to members or the branch for signing, processing, and funding the loan.
  • Analyze consumer loan files to ensure all necessary paperwork and signatures are present before funding.
  • Process consumer loan documents and disburse funds after reviewing consumer loan files to ensure all required documentation and signatures are obtained.
  • Process Home Equity Loans and HELOCs to include:
  • Generating initial disclosures in compliance with current regulations.
  • Collaborating with vendors daily in relation to appraisals and title searches.
  • Ensuring all products are completed and provided to the loan officer in a timely fashion while addressing any issues that arise.
  • Analyzing appraisals and writing a summary for underwriting review.
  • Filing mortgages, satisfactions, and other documentation with proper county authorities.
  • Track home equity files to ensure every step including filing and recording is completed.
  • Manage paid loan reports and process satisfied liens in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and audits as requested
  • Maintain all records to keep in compliance with credit union policies and applicable governmental regulations.
  • Receive and process GAP and MRC claims and cancellations for vehicle loans.
  • Receive and process GAP, MRC, and Debt Protection change requests.
  • Partner with vendors to ensure member insurance information is current and accurate
  • Receive, review, and process loan related mail including titles, lien cards, lien releases, insurance documentation, and more
  • Prepare lending correspondence and respond to member and internal inquiries
  • Support lending management with reporting, special projects, and data requests.
  • Document errors made by lending team members and confidentially communicate findings with management.
  • Follow Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policies and procedures as they relate to this position.
  • Assist other processors, lenders, and other areas of the credit union as requested or needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of loan processing or consumer lending experience in a financial service institution required, preferably a credit union.
  • High School degree, with an Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending documents and processes, preferred
  • Mortgage lending and document experience, preferred.
  • Excellent written communication and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.

Supervisory Responsibility: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

Physical Demands:

Continuous sitting. Occasional walking. Occasional standing. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Occasional bending and/or reaching for supplies on ground level. Occasional reaching above shoulder level for supplies overhead. Frequent repetitive use of hands such as simple grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity to perform various accounting duties such as using a 10 key calculator, keyboarding and entering data into the computer system. Frequent speaking, listening and hearing for interaction with members, staff, and the general public. Occasional clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Frequent clarity of vision at 20 feet or more 

Expected Hours of Work:

40-hour standard workweek. Weekend work is required. Longer hours and evenings may be necessary.

Travel: This position requires up to 10% travel.
